“Easy Peasy” Baby Puree at Home

I know, I know, Baby-Led-Weaning is all the hype, but I don’t care. I love doing purees in the first year, its fun and easy and I don’t have to worry about my baby choking on a chicken bone.

I like to buy fresh or frozen organic fruits and veggies for baby food. Frozen is super easy to keep on hand so you can make your purees whenever you have time or want to make a bulk batch. Feel free to mix and match foods for different flavors!

Place frozen peas in a pot with about one inch of water. Bring to a boil and then let it simmer on low for 15 minutes or until they are super tender.

Once they are fully steamed and you can easily smash them, its time to blend! Use a food processor, blender or immersion blender. I love my immersion blender for so many things! And it’s especially easy if you have stainless steel pots that you can just blend in, no need to dirty another dish. Hallelujah!

Blend until its completely smooth and no lumps.

Let cool completely and place in whatever storage method you choose, jars, freezer bags, etc.

TIP: If you have extra breastmilk pump bags that you aren’t using, a great use for those is baby food! They are great quality and hold up well in the freezer. They hold a small portion that you can flatten and store easily in the freezer. They also defrost well because they are so thin.

Easy Peasy! Just make sure to write on the bag the contents inside and the date you froze it.
